Design

Proper design is one of the most crucial parts of an IT infrastructure project that often can be overlooked, the last place to start with IT is installing servers.

Tru consulting have a wealth of experience in running full lifecycle IT infrastructure refresh projects and will start with gathering requirements in order to align the solution design to business needs rather than simply replacing existing investments with newer versions of the same.

The process typically starts with information gathering workshops where stakeholders from around the business can have an input into the final solution, this then results in more buy-in from different business units rather than the IT department ‘forcing’ new technology on them.

When the requirements and scope of the project are agreed a high level design is produced that will cover the overall architecture of the solution and the strategy to cover all requirements.

Once the High level design is signed off by the stakeholders a detailed design will be produced that will provide all  technical specifications and detailed configurations which will provide all the information needed to deliver the solution.

We have found that using this approach and providing several sign off points during the process scope, high level design, detailed design, allows us to avoid the common pitfalls in any project. Not rocket science but these project processes are often rushed or ignored resulting in wasted time and effort.

This approach can be tailored to fit within any project management methodology your business currently adheres to.
